India’s Adventure Travel Sees A Hike Of 178%, Highest In Past 3 Years

Adventure Travel Reported A Jump Of 178% In India Recently

Travel lovers are out of their shells now and exploring the world after the pandemic. Europe remains the first choice of the travllers, India too has witnessed exponential adventure travel growth recently of 178%. 

Based on the collected data during the study, the adventure activities had seen the most engagement, and the adventure activity market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 17.4% by 2023 in India. 

In India, the demand for adventure activities has grown by 178% in the last three years, as per the data collected. High altitude regions such as Munnar, Manali, Shimla, Ooty, etc., have noted a 42% increase in popularity in recent times. 

It is noted that people are more interested in travelling the Himalayas for an offbeat experience. Not only this, the number of solo travellers has also increased by 18%

The survey has revealed there is a sharp rise in the number of people who are more interested in adventure activities than others.

The government and government bodies of India like the Ministry of Tourism, Adventure Tour Operators Association of India, and Indian Mountaineering Foundation have made sincere efforts to promote adventure tourism, which has resulted in the growth of the tourism sector. 

  • The ministry of tourism has teamed up with the Indian Mountaineering Federation and Adventure tour Operators Association to develop many regions in India as adventure tourism destinations. 
  • The government of India has also given security clearance to open 104 additional peaks in the Leh area of Jammu & Kashmir to promote it as an adventure tourism destination.  
  • In addition to this, the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) has decided to introduce maneuvering activities to promote adventure travel. 

Travel tourism is the most significant segment to boost the economy, even the industry gives opportunities to improve the growth. Considering the potential of some of India’s tourist destinations, a few sincere efforts are taken by the government to rank them as adventure tourism destinations.
