Best Places To Visit In Seychelles

Seychelles is an amazing tourist place with high infrastructure and natural islands. This place is also for sailors, sports, and gamblers, etc. The place Seychelles is located at the four degrees south of the equator and situated on the 4000,000 square km of the Indian Ocean. This place is filled up with man-made attractions, natural beauty, and ancient wonders as well. The beauty of this place is concentrated around the French and British colonialism. This island is situated outside the hurricane zone. The outer islands are uninhabited low-lying sand cays and small coralline islands and atolls. Seychelles is a combination of 115 islands.

1. Baie Lazare, Mahe 

Thisis the largest island of Seychelles and is one of the most popular places to visit. This is a small secluded crescent of sand on the island’s south coast. Mahe is filled up with the highest mountain, verdant forests, and over 65 beaches with a vast diversity of flora and fauna. This place is also well-known for the Beau Vallon Beach and several tourist attractions of the city. This is one of the tiniest capital cities in the world. Here, you will get a chance to witness pink sand and the beautiful granite boulders where the water laps on.

2. Anse Lazio, Praslin 

Anse Lazio (Chevalier Bay) is one of the islands located on the north shores of Praslin Island. This is the most popular Vallee de Mai UNESCO World Heritage site that grows in abundance. This island is home to Anse Lazio as well as Anse Georgette which are converted as the two most beautiful beaches of the world. Here, you can soak up yourself in the sun and enjoy the beauty of the black parrot. Coconut palms fringe and the Takamaka trees give patches of shades to the beach for relaxing. There are very rare species of parrots are found in this place and there is also a Praslin National Park. You can also enjoy the Vallee de Mai for the biggest coral riffs. If you are visiting Praslin Island, then you must visit the Coco de Mer as well to see the world’s biggest coconuts.

3. Curieuse Island Day Trip 

Due to the russet-tones earth, this place was previously known as lle Rouge. This Curieuse Island is located very nearer to Praslin Island. It is the home to endemic flora & fauna, and  now it is home for giant tortoises. Here, you can see the red-black parrots, Aldabra tortoises, etc. It is also home to the red and blue cliffs on the coast. Here, you may investigate the ruins of the leprosarium present on the south shore, and therefore the preserved national monument. This island also covers with casuarina trees, and takamaka trees, which give shade to the beaches. You can get a chance of a boat tour also.

 4. Morne Seychellois National Park 

This national park covers 20 percent of the total area of Mahe. Due to its highest point, this park is known as Morne Seychellois. It reaches a height of 905 meters above sea level and overlooks the capital of Victoria. Through this park, travelers can enjoy hiking also. It is introduced as the largest national park in Seychelles. This place is suitable for nature lovers and hikers. Hiking trails mount into the park from the village of Denzil, offering mesmerizing views of the southwest coast of Mahe, passing tea plantations from the mountain slopes. The Morne Blanc hike is one of the most famous trails and gives spectacular views. Coming to west through the park, hikers will reach Baie Ternay and Port Launay Marine Parks. Coming to the north where you can find the hamlet of Bel Ombre and also an isolated beach at Anse Major.   

5. Sainte Anne National Marine Park 

The Sainte Anne National Marine Park is a combination of 6 closely located islands on the coast of Mahe. The glass-bottom tour takes the tourists through the diverse marine life of the park’s coral reefs. Here, you can get a chance to enjoy scuba diving, snorkeling, and other highlights. This island is very important for hawksbill turtles as a nesting site. And it is also the home to many luxury resorts. Apart from this, you can find crocodiles and mangroves. This island was once a leper colony where you can enjoy a nature walk and stay overnight at a luxury resort i.e. Enchanted Island Resort. There is also a breeding site available, known as lle Cachee which is for noddies and a designated nature reserve. At Cerf Island, you can also enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and diving through the beautiful reefs or bask on the uncrowned beaches. In addition to this, this island also features nature trails such as pirate graves, a small thatched chapel, giant tortoises, reconstructed settlers, etc.     

6. Vallee de Mai National Park 

This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Praslin Island. It is known to preserve a prehistoric forest that has been housing several endangered species of flora and fauna. This national park includes 4,000 numbers of rare species of coco de mer fruit palm. Other species like giant vanilla orchids, fruit pigeon, black parrot, palmist, Chinese fans, latanier, Seychelles Bulbul, splayed traveler’s palm, etc. are also found. Tourists can also go for hiking along the marked trail within the national park. The valley is also full of many species of lizards and rare birds.

 7.  Aride Island Nature Reserve Day Trip 

Aride Island is the best place to visit in Seychelles. It is suitable for the nature lovers. This island is the home for many endangered species, flowers, seabirds, etc. Here, you can find more than 18 species of seabirds that include the sea birds, red-tailed tropicbirds, frigate birds, etc. It also inlcude endemic flowers like Bois citron, Wright’s gardenia, etc. Apart from this, the island is also having the highest density of lizards all over the world. This is the home of so many seabirds on the Indian Ocean. There are so many breeding birds found here, and also the native birds that breed on Aride.

8. Bird Island 

Bird Island is also known as Iles aux Vaches. This island is the home for dugongs (sea cows) and also a numerous number of birds which are found in Seychelles during May. This island is filled up with a large number of sooty terns, cardinals, crested terns, mynas, fairy terns, noddy terns, ground doves, saunders’s terns, giant land tortoises, plovers, etc. The population of birds in this island swells to 1,500,000 during the month of May to October breeding season. For accommodation, here, the only one Bird Island Lodge is available.
