Canada is planning to introduce a COVID-19 vaccine passport for international and domestic travelers both, as proof of vaccination credentials. “The federal government is looking forward to making the credential available soon to make traveling easy”, an announcement made by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, on Thursday.
The national proof of vaccination will feature a QR code and official logos from the federal government. The credential will be available digitally and in hard copy as well. The credential or vaccine passport will include the holder’s vaccination history including vaccination date, vaccination type, vaccination location, and other information.
At the press conference, Immigration Minister, Marco Mendicino, said ━ the vaccination passport allows the passenger to travel more easily. It will be available to Canadian citizens, permanent and temporary residents. The credential may be asked to show at restaurants, movie theaters, and the guideline may vary from province to province.
Canada COVID Situation At Present
The situation of Coronavirus has improved in Canada in recent months, which results in fewer restrictions for Canadians and foreign travelers alike.
Also, the restrictions across the country have loosened including social distancing and other measures to COVID-19 as the cases have declined and vaccination rates have increased. The opening up of Canada’s society is resulting in a strong recovery of jobs and the economy.
Canada is recovering fast from COVID-19 cases and in recent days, over 1,000 new COVID-19 cases have been recovered per day. This is because over 80% of the Canadian population has received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and nearly 70% have been fully vaccinated.
Canada’s improved outlook at the pandemic is leading the media to believe that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may call an election soon with the aim to obtain a new majority government.
