COVID-19 Vaccine Passport

China has become the first country to launch the digital health certificate that will be recognized by the other countries soon to ease global traveling. The announcement was made by Chinese Foreign Minister “Wang Yi” in a press conference. He mentioned- the passport will show the complete detail of the traveler’s Coronavirus history along with the nucleic acid and antibodies test results. 

As vaccines have already been rolled out throughout the world, few countries are also working to introduce the certificates identified for vaccinated people. Chinese can already register for health certificates through the WeChat program, launched in China on Monday. 

The Foreign Minister also mentioned that this vaccine passport is available in two formats digital and paper. With this, the Chinese government is hoping to promote more and more vaccinations to be done. 

Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said- “the pandemic is still with us, but the world economy needs to be restarted and people-to-people exchanges resumed with no more delays.” 

In addition to China, several other countries like Sweden and Denmark are also developing their own health passports to ease the tourism among the countries which is a really great idea to promote healthcare & to be vaccinated timely. In Britain, 200000 people have already filed petitions to introduce the vaccine certificate. 

Moreover, the International Air Association also wants to promote COVID-19 vaccination. For this, it is planning, with its 290 members, to introduce a travel app that will collect and share travelers’ COVID-19 test results and vaccination reports. 

Singaporean country will be the first to execute this app on London to Singapore Flights from 15 March. Along with this, 30 other airlines will be trying this app in the next two months.  

To use the electronic health certificate, China launched the encrypted QR code for the governments with digital certificates to provide access to personal information. However, a 14-day quarantine is still required for incoming travelers.  

According to China’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the country will reach Herd Immunity by the next year as 80% of the population will be vaccinated successfully. 

It is to be expected that 560 million people will be vaccinated by the end of June and the rest 330 million by the end of the year, state media reported.
