The IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation), DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation), and CIRS (Centre for Railway Information System) have collaborated to execute the One India-One Ticket plan. This initiative will make it easy for transportation of railway and metro passengers to the Delhi NCR (National Capital Region).
With this facility, people can book Delhi Metro Rail QR tickets from the IRCTC website and mobile app. The full version will be released soon. Metro tickets can be booked up to 120 days in advance, and railway reservations can be booked four days in advance. One ticket per individual will be printed in the IRCTC Electronic Reservation Slip.
The “Beta Version” of the Delhi Metro Rail QR ticket was launched on 10 July 2024, allowing passengers to leverage the service. The CMD (Chief Managing Director) of IRCTC, Sanjay Kumar, and MD (Managing Director) of DMRC, Vikas Kumar, said on the occasion, “On the success of Beta Version, the regular version of IRCTC-DMRC QR Code Ticket will be launched soon after.”
The DMRC also issued a statement saying, “The metro tickets will be valid for a single day journey for four days starting from the day before the DMRC journey date, the travel date itself, and two days after the journey date.” The statement added that single-journey tickets for Delhi Metro can only be booked on the day of travel, with the same-day validity.
As passengers can book tickets from the IRCTC app and website, they don’t need to stand in long queues and can save time. This initiative will support metro and rail corporations to providing convenient transportation to residents of Delhi NCR. It will also promote digitalisation, and efficient transportation systems.
