Kashmir Recorded Highest Tourists In March, Almost 1.8 Lakh

Kashmir ━ Heaven on Earth! The valley has recorded the highest number of tourists in March 2022. It is for the first time in the last ten years that the valley has recorded a footfall of around 1.8 lakh, according to the Kashmir Tourist Department. 

The statement made by the Kashmir Tourism director G N Itoo that 1,79,970 tourists visited Kashmir in the last month, which is the highest record in a decade. “This is a record number, and we expect it to increase further. The credit for the number of tourist arrivals goes to all the collective efforts of the stakeholders,” he informed. 

He further added that the Kashmir tourism department started the hot air balloon ride and is planning to introduce paragliding at all major tourist destinations across Kashmir. Not only this, but the tourism department has also started the Srinagar City Heritage Bus Tour Service that will give a deep dive into Kashmir-Srinagar heritage.  

The Tourism department is leaving no stone unturned in entertaining tourists. They also organized a series of roadshows in cities like Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru and Kolkata to attract tourists, said tourism secretary Sarmad Hafeez. “This year, the hotels and houseboats are booked for the next two months”, he added. 

Kashmir tourism is expecting an increase in tourists in the upcoming months, and its aim is to offer a unique experience to the people visiting here. The state is also planning to start Amarnath Yatra this year from June 30 for a period of 43 days. The yatra has been suspended for the last two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic. With this, the government is expecting a large number of devotees to visit and contribute to increased tourism.
