When it comes to visiting hills of Himachal Pradesh, McLeodGanj is a place that comes on the top in the list. Located three kilometers north to the proper Dharamshala, Mecleodganj is home to a large Tibetan population, including several nuns and maroon-robed monks. It is situated at the height of 2,082 meters amid the Dhauladhar Range of mountains. With so many interesting tourist places, Mecleodganj is a town basically known for its extensive British history. Nestled amidst majestic hills and the lush greenery, this town is one of the mesmerizing places in the entire state of Himachal Pradesh. With its captivating attraction points, it allures thousands of tourists throughout the year. Being a hill station, it gives hundred of reasons to visit here. 

1- Triund

Triund is the trekking spot in Himachal Pradesh offering an escape into the majestic Himalayas. Night camping is one of the exciting things to do that tourists can enjoy in the open area. Situated a few kilometers away from the Dharamshala, the journey of the Triund can be done either from McLeodGanj or Dharamkot which is 2 km ahead of McLeodGanj. If you are trekking and camping lovers then this place is one that accomplished your desires. 

2- St. John’s church

Located in the wilderness and dedicated to John the Baptist, this church has a very old historical background. Built-in 1852, it is situated near Dharamshala on the way of McLeodGanj. The church has prominent Belgian stained glass windows that were designed by an artist of Italian descent. Once destroyed in the earthquake of 1905, the church was rebuilt in 1915 along with a brand new bell installed in it. Amid the Deodar grove, this church seems like a graveyard where the gravestone of Lord Elgin is available. 

3- Bhagsu Waterfalls

Bhagsu waterfalls are 500 meter long cascading waterfalls are that beauty to which you can behold for hours. It is the most popular waterfall amid lush green and gives paradisiacal scenery. The view Bhagsu waterfalls render is something that none wouldn’t like to miss. It is also a quintessential place for a picnic where you can unwind with your family and friends. This spot is totally amid the gushing sounds of water and lush green surrounding where you can encounter the wilderness. This place is exemplary if you are looking for a tranquil place to spend some quality time with your friends, family or loved one. 

4- Tibet museum

The Tibetan museum consists of a fine specimen of Tibetan architecture and was predominantly built to preserve the history & culture of Tibet. Lectures and exhibitions were once conducted on the premises, latter it becomes a major tourist attraction for visitors from all across the globe. The museum has showcased the stories of the people beautifully in the form of the painting and snaps. History lovers can explore the history of the people along with finding out how things have been through the year. If you are planning to visit Mcleod ganj, you are not allowed to miss this peaceful place. 

5- Namgyal monastery

Known as the 14th Dalai Lama’s Monastery, Namgyal Monastery is basically a sacred place ritual involve in various Buddhist practices like Kalachakra, guhyasamaja, Yamantaka and Chakrasamvara. This monastery is a great place for meditation and a session is held for meditation that welcomes tourists to join. Alongside this monastery also known for tantric college and many elder people of Shimla like to go there. Anyone interested in spirituality can visit Namgyal Monastery.

6- Tibetan Institute of performing arts

Anyone who is dying a heart art lover can visit the Tibetan Institute of performing arts. It will render an exemplary glimpse of Tibetan art and culture. This museum is a must-visited place if you are keen to behold the folk heritage of Tibet. The institute is embellished with a performing troupe that gives the regular performance of Dances, Tibetan Operas, Arts and music. This institute was first known as the dance, drama and music society but now it is one of the most renowned tourist places in McLeodGanj

7- Sunset point

Sunset view is always been enthralling view to experience. Here, the sun gets slowly dips down behind the majestic dhauladhar ranges. It would be one of the best views to encounter in McLeodGanj as it provides scenic views for photography. Tourists can visit here to witness nature enthusiasts and also spend some quality time in tranquil. 

8- Masroor temple

Being the 8th-century temple, it is one of the temples that reveal the beauty of the north Indian Nagra architectural style. The entire temple is equipped with the excellent art of carving on monolithic rocks. The complex of the temple has three entrance gates presently; however, the fourth entrance has been left incomplete. Along with this, the temple complex has sacred pool water and it is believed that taking a dip into this holy water will clean up all your soul from the sins. Situated at the top of the hill and amid by dhauladhar mountains, this mesmerizing temple is made after cutting the rock.

9- Dhaulandhar ranges

Dhaulandhar ranges are a must to see attraction point, especially post snowfall. The name of the mountains translates it into a “white range” as the mountains are covered with white snow after heavy snowfalls. Located 8 km from the Dharamshala and 4 km from the McLeodGanj, this Mountain is easily accessible by road. You can spend hours here with no fail. Visit this thrilling place is a must if you are planning for Meleodganj.
