On the occurrence of the 75th independence day, the Archaeological Survey of India allowed free entry to every tourist and visitor in all the ASI-protected monuments.
“As part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and 75th I-Day celebrations, ASIGoI has made entry free for visitors and tourists to all its protected monuments & sites across the country, from 5th to 15th August 2022,” The Union Culture Minister, G Kishan Reddy shared in a tweet.
Under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ the government has passed an order and wants to commence a new ordeal in the country. All centrally protected monuments and sites would allow visitors to visit without charging any fee. This entry would be allowed from the 5th of Aug to the 15th Aug 2022. Over 3600 monuments come under the list of ASI-protected sites, which includes many major states in the country like UP, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Delhi, Gujrat etc.
Out of these 3,600 centrally protected monuments, 116 monuments will charge a certain ticket from their visitors. Major monuments and states that fall under the central protection list are Red Fort, Ahom Raja Palace, Sun Temple, Ajanta Caves, Taj Mahal, etc.
Officials from the ‘Archaeological Survey of India’ stated that this facility would be provided to all Indian nationals as well as would include foreign tourists and visitors. The order would come into effect from Saturday.
