India is significantly promoting sustainable tourism to save the environment. Several ecotourism destinations in India work towards conserving nature and biodiversity through minimal destruction. These days, the government of India is taking every possible step to make the country pollution-free, while making travelling smooth and enjoyable.
In support, each state is taking its own initiatives to promote eco-friendly travel and authentic local experiences across India. Recently, the government of Andhra Pradesh identified 500 homestays in tribal, heritage rural areas of the state. These homestays ensure that tourists can experience the diverse culture of the state.
This initiative enhances the tourism sector in the state and economically empowers local communities. More homestays than luxurious hotels directly benefit locals, fostering a sense of ownership and pride in their cultural heritage.
Other states, including Kerala, Assam, Odisha, and Nagaland, also focus on sustainable tourism and offer ecotourism destinations in India.
